1.    TRANSPORTING YOUR CLOTHES. Make it easy on yourself and leave your clothes on the hangers. Just take a large trash bag, wrap it around your clothes and secure the tie around the hangers. This makes transporting clothes hassle-free and your life much easier!

 2.     DONATE YOUR ITEMS. Take advantage of this time to de-clutter your belongings and get rid of any items that aren’t being utilized. These could include duplicate household items, unnecessary furniture, or clothes you no longer wear.

3.    PACK AN ESSENTIALS BAG. Avoid the stress of not being able to find anything—pack a duffle bag or backpack full of the essentials you will need on night one of living in your new space. This may include medications, chargers, toiletries, and a change of clothes.

4.    PACK BY ROOM.  Save yourself the stress, and pack your belongings by each room. Make sure you label your boxes thoroughly and clearly so you (and moving helpers) know exactly where to place each box in your new space.

5.    BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU CAN’T PACK. Not sure which items need to be avoided when loading up the moving truck? Check out this article for a list of items that are off limits when packing up those boxes.

6.    KEEP TRACK OF HARDWARE. Avoid the headache of tiny missing pieces—Put all of the loose screws and hardware in a plastic bag and tape it to the designated piece of furniture. There’s nothing worse than re-assembling furniture in your new space to find that you have one piece of hardware missing.

7.    AVOID TANGLED MESSES. Use a paper towel roll to string electronic wires, headphones, and necklaces to avoid tangled chaos. You could also use an egg carton to store rings, necklaces, and other jewelry from getting knotted together.

8.    TAKE PHOTOS OF ELECTRONICS. Before you move, take photos of your electronics and the wires that plug into each outlet. This will make re-installing electronic devices much quicker and easier.
